Green Initiative

The Heathfield Agricultural Show aims to reduce the environmental impact of its one day Show to make a positive contribution towards reducing harmful waste products.

The Show is working closely with its contractors and visitors to better control the use of environmentally harmful products and is looking to use energy more efficiently for the benefit of all.

A huge portion of our sustainability programme can only be achieved with the help of our visitors. We encourage visitors to take their rubbish home with them, bring their own cups, plates and cutlery, and recycle as necessary when they are on the showground. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own filled water bottles to use during the Show.

Any surplus food from the packed lunches is donated to a local charity to be made good use of.

We are already working hard to encourage our trade stands to make changes to the way theyorganise their stands to be more sustainable. In our trade stand competition classes, a new annual award was initiated in 2022, called the ‘Sustainable Futures Award’ and all our trade stands will be encouraged to take part in this competition.

As we move towards Show Day, new initiatives will be introduced so we hope you will follow our progress as we make steps towards becoming carbon neutral.

A Park & Ride service will be running on show day.
