Welcome to the Heathfield Show 26 May 2012

Saturday 26th May. 9 days until Show Day!
The Bank Holiday has moved but we haven't.

Education Area - Sponsored by Tottingworth Farm and Creaseys LLP

This new area of the Show, for 2012, reflects the sentiments and commitment of the Heathfield Show Council when it was first set up in 1947 which was to encourage and advance the knowledge of the countryside to others. The area, sponsored by Tottingworth Farm, host to the Heathfield Show, and Creaseys LLP, is designed to educate and inform children and adults alike, about the provenance of meat and the important part farming plays in delivering food to our tables.
Not only will the area have a display of farm animals - examples of different breeds of cattle with their calves, a ewe and lamb, and sow and piglets - but it will have a ‘hands on’ corner for children which will include the new addition to the Tottingworth herd – a manual milking cow! Take the opportunity to enter the competition to name this cow and win a free membership to the Heathfield Show for 2013.
Tottingworth Farm will also have their farm shop set up in this area so visitors will be able to taste and purchase the products of the Farm.

Showing Classes - Sheep, Cattle, Pigs and Horses

The Heathfield Show has long had a reputation for the size and quality of its showing classes. This year will be no exception . The closing date for entries has now passed. There are in excess of 1,000 animals entered to compete on Show day. With best of breed and section champion awards at stake, not to mention individual class competitions and awards, everything is coming together to make an exciting day. Even Her Majesty The Queen has entered a horse in one of the showing classes which is a true honour in this Diamond Jubilee year.

Flower Show – Sponsored by Swindells LLP

Every year the Heathfield Show hosts a Flower Show. A theme is set and this year’s theme - to reflect London hosting the Olympic Games - is “The Flower Games”. Competitors are asked to enter arrangements under various themes including ‘Opening Ceremony’ and ‘Sporting Hero’. There are classes for professionals and novices, men and women and also children. If you would like to be involved and receive details for the competition please contact Mrs Sue Browning on 01435 866724.

Vintage Tractors

In the Vintage Tractor section you will find a huge selection of tractors. Some tractors have been restored to their former glory and some you will find in their original 'working clothes'. Each tractor is as individual as its owner and on many you will find a tale of their history and how they have come to be where they are today. The Vintage Tractors parade both in the Country Ways ring and in the main ring during show day and our knowledgeable commentator, Bernard Pike, will tell you a bit about each tractor that is in the parade. Our tractor display is not only for large tractors, we often have a good selection of smaller horticultural tractors that you will find are driven by our younger exhibitors. If you would like to bring your tractor to the Show please complete an entry form and send it to Andrew Denness (detail on the form).
